Susan Whelan is a children’s author and freelance writer. She has a passion for connecting children and teens with great books.
As an author, Susan has a particular interest in promoting diversity in children’s literature and writing stories that encourage children to explore their world and look at everyday situations in a fresh way. Susan’s first picture book, Don’t Think About Purple Elephants, is illustrated by Gwynneth Jones and was published by EK Books in April 2015. The book was launched at the Newcastle Writers’ Festival Family Day on the 21st March 2015 and was shortlisted for the Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Award 2016.
